2. What Nightingle does with your data

Nightingle helps people watch films and series together. We process personal data only to provide this service, keep it secure and answer your questions. We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics tools, and we do not sell data.

3. Signing in with Google

You sign in with your Google account. Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) confirms your identity and passes us your name, email address and profile picture. Other people in a room only see your first name and profile picture. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the service you asked for).

4. Rooms, chat and reactions

When you open or join a room, we store who is in it and when you were last active. Only the room's members can see its messages and reactions. Messages are deleted automatically after 30 days. A room closes as soon as everyone has left and is deleted, with everything left in it, 30 days later. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

If you report a message, we keep a copy of it, who reported it and who wrote it until the report has been handled (Art. 16 DSA). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(c) and (f) GDPR (legal duty, protecting users).

5. Playing in sync and the browser extension

To keep everyone at the same moment, Nightingle shares with the members of your room: the service, the title or link, play or pause, and the time position. We store the latest state with the room so that people who join later can catch up. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

The Nightingle extension for Chrome and Edge runs only on the supported streaming sites. It reads only play/pause, the time and the title or link of the video that is playing. It does not read your browsing history, passwords or any other pages, and it never copies or transmits the video itself.

Beside the film, the extension shows your room's chat (names, the latest messages and reactions). This comes from your open Nightingle room tab and passes only between your own browser tabs; messages you write there are saved through the room tab, just like in the room itself. The extension remembers in your browser whether the chat is shown or hidden.

6. YouTube videos in a room

When someone in the room starts a YouTube video, YouTube's official player from Google Ireland Limited is loaded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Only then does Google receive technical data such as your IP address, and it may use its own storage in your browser. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR and § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (a service you explicitly asked for). Google may transfer data to the USA on the basis of the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Google's own privacy policy applies.

7. Database and hosting

Accounts, rooms, messages and the playback state are stored with Supabase Inc. (database and live connection, hosted in the European Union, Frankfurt region). The website is delivered by Vercel Inc. (440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA), which processes technically necessary data such as your IP address, the time and the page requested. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR (secure, reliable operation). Transfers to the USA are based on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the EU standard contractual clauses. We have data processing agreements with both providers.

8. Storage in your browser

We store only what the site needs to work: your sign-in session and your language choice. Nothing is used for tracking, which is why there is no cookie banner. Legal basis: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG. You can clear this storage in your browser at any time.

9. Contacting us by email

If you write to info@hausnightingale.eu, we use your message and address to reply. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. We delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed, unless we must keep it by law.

10. Minimum age and deleting your account

Nightingle is for people aged 16 and over. You can delete your account yourself at any time (My rooms → Account). Your profile, memberships and messages are deleted immediately.
